JACKSONVILLE, Fla.— Edward Waters University has officially named Mr. Lloyd H. Nesbitt as its Vice President for Campus Operations and Facilities Management, strengthening the University’s leadership team at a pivotal moment of anticipated campus growth and investment. His appointment is effective July 6, 2026.
Nesbitt steps into the role as Edward Waters anticipates substantial multimillion-dollar capital investment beginning this summer and continuing over the next 24 to 36 months. He will provide executive oversight of facilities management, campus operations, construction and project management, and the physical infrastructure that supports the University’s students, faculty, and staff.
A seasoned facilities, procurement, and operations executive with more than two decades of public and private sector experience, Nesbitt brings a depth of expertise in higher education facilities management, multi-million-dollar capital project oversight, and the stewardship of state and federal construction funds. His leadership has consistently paired operational excellence with disciplined fiscal management.
Nesbitt joins Edward Waters from Alcorn State University, where he served as Associate Vice President of Facilities Management with responsibility for all three campuses in Lorman, Natchez, and Vicksburg. In that role, he managed more than two million square feet of space across 100 buildings and more than 1,700 acres, directing a staff of 60 technical, professional, and administrative personnel spanning transportation and fleet, custodial services, landscaping and grounds, the university trades division, and water and wastewater treatment. He oversaw a facilities operating budget and the management of state bond appropriation construction projects, Higher Education Emergency Relief Funds, and Title III academic facilities enhancement funds.
His career reflects a sustained record of leadership across higher education and government. Prior to Alcorn State, Nesbitt served as Senior Construction Project Manager and Assistant Purchasing Agent for Fulton County Government in Atlanta, leading construction oversight and procurement for major county capital projects. He previously served as Director of Auxiliary Enterprises at Alabama State University, where he led a portfolio of business units and game day operations, and as Director of Auxiliary Services and Business Manager at Clark Atlanta University. His earlier experience includes service as Director of Facilities and Maintenance Operations for the Greene County Board of Education and as President of Construction and Operations for Hartness Development Group.
Across these roles, Nesbitt has developed particular strength in contract negotiation and administration, scope development for requests for proposals, vendor management and procurement, project budgeting and forecasting, and feasibility and risk analysis. He is OSHA 40 HAZWOPER certified and has completed specialized training through the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the National Institute of Governmental Purchasing.
A native of the Southeast, Nesbitt earned his Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from Albany State University and a Master of Public Administration, with a concentration in public management, from Troy University. He is a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated, and maintains active affiliations with leading facilities and operations organizations, including the Association of Physical Plant Administrators and the International Facility Management Association.
