March 7, 2024 – JACKSONVILLE – In a groundbreaking announcement on Wednesday, March 6th, the Florida Senate Democratic Caucus proudly revealed the unanimous election of Senator Tracie Davis to lead the caucus for the 2026-2028 term. Senator Davis, an accomplished alumna of Edward Waters University (EWU), has established herself as a prominent figure in Florida politics, championing the cause of her constituents and embodying the university’s legacy of nurturing Black professionals and leaders.

Sen. Tracie Davis, hailing from Edward Waters University, had previously served in the House of Representatives from 2016 to 2022 before making her mark in the Senate in 2022, representing District 5 in Duval County, which includes the vibrant Jacksonville urban core.
