Dean of Graduate Studies

Dr. Glenn King, Jr. serves as Dean of Graduate Studies at Edward Waters University, where he leads the Division of Graduate Studies in advancing rigorous, accessible graduate education rooted in the University’s historic mission. He holds a Ph.D. in Management, Leadership, and Organizational Change and is guided by a philosophy of servant leadership.

New students are eligible for admission at the beginning of fall, spring, and summer sessions. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. EWU does not discriminate against any student based on age, race, creed, religion, handicap, gender, nationality, ethnic origin, or any other unrelated factors.
The online graduate programs will use the following criteria for all student admission:
  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education
  • GMAT/GRE Score*
  • A cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.75, in the bachelor’s degree program, or comparable GPA for an international applicant
  • Application Fee (If required)
  • Official Transcripts for all Undergraduate degrees completed.
  • Two Letters of Recommendation
  • Current Resume
  • An Essay about their goals and career aspirations
  • A copy of two legal documents verifying identity, one with a picture of the student and their signature affixed (i.e., state issued driver license, other state or government issued identification). For international students, a passport will suffice.
Transfer students must meet the aforementioned criteria for admission, including official transcripts from any undergraduate and graduate institutions. Transfer credits may be accepted upon review and approval by the Dean of Graduate Studies and/or Chairperson of the Department of Business Administration.

Therefore, similar to the current transfer student admission policies for
undergraduate studies, graduate transfer students are considered for regular admission providing they have a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA on all course work attempted. No minimum credit hours or units are required, and transfer consideration is given for all academic terms.

In addition, the transfer student must meet the following criteria:

  1. Must have good academic standing and/or eligibility to return to previous institution for full-time study.
  2. Submit official college/university transcripts of all previous collegiate institutions attended (undergraduate and graduate coursework).
  3. Submit GMAT/GRE score report and all other required documents in the aforementioned admissions standards for first-time graduate student applicants.
Current language regarding undergraduate students recognizes a Readmit Student as an applicant who has previously attended Edward Waters University but withdrew or transferred to another institution and now desires to re-enroll in classes at EWU. The same applies for graduate students in that a readmit student is an applicant who has previously attended Edward Waters University.
Application Requirements include:
  • Completed admissions application.
  • $25 application fee
  • Official College transcripts (if the student has attended another institution since leaving EWU)
Graduate students must maintain a 3.0 overall GPA in courses applicable to the degree. This applies to each session of a given semester. Courses are offered in two sessions per semester and students are to maintain the GPA requirements for each session. Students are only allowed to make one C grade during their matriculation in the graduate program. Students who fail to meet these requirements are subject to being placed on probation, suspension, or at risk of dismissal from the program.
To be considered for regular admission to EWU international students who apply to graduate studies must be graduates of a post-secondary school and submit a General Certification of Education, Completion, or its equivalent for those applying from the British Commonwealth.
All international applicants whose native language is not English are required to submit a Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) with a score of 153 or above (53 or above for the Internet based score). TOEFL scores will be waived for applicants who graduate from high schools within the United States, whose native language or language of instruction is English, or students transferring to EWU after at least one year at another English language University or university.

(For first time applicants and new students only)

The institution reserves the right to grant admission to post-baccalaureate
applicants who have earned at least a 2.0 – 2.749 cumulative grade point
average or do not meet GMAT / GRE requirements on a provisional
basis. Students are considered probationary, and thus, must meet
minimum GPA requirements of 3.0 the first semester to remain in the
program and subsequently be removed from provisional/probationary
status. Provisional students who do not meet the minimum will be
dismissed from the program. As such, graduate student admission policy
and procedures will be consistent with peer and aspirant institutions
regarding minimum requirements, while respecting the population of
students being served through the programmatic thrust.
