JACKSONVILLE, January 23, 2024 — Edward Waters University, a distinguished institution committed to academic excellence, is pleased to announce the appointment of Angela Y. Getter as the new Vice President of Institutional Advancement, Development, Marketing, and Communications.

In this pivotal role, Getter will lead the university’s efforts in advancing institutional goals, fostering development initiatives, and strategically enhancing the university’s brand and communication strategies.

Getter brings a wealth of experience to her new position, having demonstrated exceptional leadership and expertise in the fields of institutional advancement, development, marketing, and communications. With a proven track record of success in cultivating donor relationships, implementing strategic marketing campaigns, and elevating the visibility of academic institutions, Getter is well-equipped to contribute to the continued growth and success of Edward Waters University.

Getter holds a B.A. in Organizational Leadership from Morris Brown College and has previously served in key leadership positions at Spelman College, Clark Atlanta University, Albany State University, Jackson State University and others.  Most recently she served as the Executive Director of Development at Life University. She received her certification (CFRM) from Indiana University Lilly Family School of Philanthropy and completed the Post-Graduate Certification Program in Fundraising at Dartmouth University. Getter also served as the Managing Director for the historic Kresge Foundation HBCU Initiative.

Her passion for education, coupled with a keen understanding of the dynamics of higher education, positions her as a transformative leader for Edward Waters University.
