Edward Waters University (EWU) is proud to announce the official launch of the Edward Waters University Alumni Leadership Council (ALC), a new organization designed to strengthen alumni engagement and position graduates as strategic partners in advancing the University’s mission and momentum.
The establishment of the Alumni Leadership Council follows the University’s strategic decision last year to formally disaffiliate itself from the previous National Alumni Association organizational structure. This transition created an important opportunity to reimagine how alumni engagement is aligned with institutional priorities, governance standards, and the long-term vision for Edward Waters University.
The Edward Waters University Alumni Leadership Council will serve as the University’s official and institutionally recognized alumni organization and the only authorized body through which the University formally engages its alumni community and through which alumni engagement, leadership participation, and alumni-driven initiatives are coordinated in partnership with the University.
No other external organization or independently operated alumni group is authorized to represent Edward Waters University or act on behalf of the University in matters involving alumni engagement, fundraising, or institutional partnerships unless formally recognized by the University.
The Alumni Leadership Council represents a modernized organizational framework that elevates alumni leadership while strengthening collaboration between graduates and the University community.
The Alumni Leadership Council will serve as a strategic advisory and ambassadorial body composed of distinguished alumni leaders committed to supporting EWU’s continued growth and impact. Members of the Council will work alongside University leadership to expand alumni participation, increase philanthropic investment, strengthen regional engagement, and create meaningful opportunities that benefit current students and fellow graduates.
Through the ALC, alumni will play a critical role in:
- Advancing alumni engagement and strengthening affinity with the University
• Supporting enrollment growth and student recruitment initiatives
• Increasing philanthropic support and alumni giving
• Serving as ambassadors who elevate the visibility and reputation of EWU
• Expanding career pathways, mentorship, and professional opportunities for students and graduates
