Edward Waters University is delighted to welcome Dr. Vonnice J. Boone to its distinguished leadership team. Dr. Boone, an accomplished professional with a rich background in leadership roles, joins the university as Special Assistant to the President for Strategic Initiatives and Director of Title III.

With a career marked by excellence and a commitment to community service, Dr. Boone has held significant leadership positions, including serving as an MBA Executive Director at Philander Smith University in Little Rock, AR, External Reporting Manager at America’s Car-Mart, Program Manager II and Financial/FCPA Auditor at Walmart Inc., Accountant at Tyson Foods, and Contract Closeout Specialist at Accenture Federal Services.

“I am exhilarated to join Edward Waters University, under the leadership of President A. Zachary Faison. The future for EWU is bright, and I am prepared to hit the ground running,” said Dr. Boone. “President Faison and the EWU community are a driven community, and I look forward to adding to the phenomenal leadership team to continue to provide a dynamic experience for the students.”

In addition to her professional accomplishments, Dr. Boone has been an active member of the community, contributing her time and expertise to organizations such as Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, The University of Arkansas Sam Walton College of Business Diversity and Inclusion Corporate Advisory Board, the Northwest Arkansas MLK Council, and more.

Dr. Boone’s recognitions and accomplishments include being named in the 2021 Northwest Arkansas Forty Under 40, About You Magazine’s 2022 Intriguing Women, and the 2022 Arkansas Money & Politics 50 Most Influential Leaders in Arkansas. She is also a Xi Cohort fellow of the Higher Education Leadership Foundation (H.E.L.F.) and a participant in the McKinsey & Co. Academy Black Management Accelerator Program. In 2022, Dr. Boone ran for Rogers (Arkansas) City Council.

A first-generation college graduate, Dr. Boone holds a B.S. in Accounting from North Carolina A&T State University, an MBA from The University of Maryland Global Campus, and an Ed.D. from Capella University. Her doctoral Applied Improvement Project (AIP) is titled “Gap Between the Intended Representative Leadership and the Current Lack of Diverse Representation.”

Dr. Boone is not only a dedicated professional but also the proud wife of Dorian Boone and a loving mother to two sons, Darius and Dylan. Together, they share their home with a golden retriever named Bentley. Originally from the Washington, D.C. area, Dr. Boone brings her passion for volunteerism and traveling to the vibrant community at Edward Waters University.
