
JACKSONVILLE, FL (September 6, 2023) – Having built a distinguished record of stellar performance as a higher educational and financial services leader and administrator, Dr. Archie Bouie II, has accepted an appointment by Edward Waters University (EWU) President & CEO, Dr. A. Zachary Faison, Jr., as the university’s new Vice President for Finance, Administration, and Business Innovation. Dr. Bouie’s tenure at EWU became effective as of Monday, August 28, 2023 where he serves as an integral member of the President’s Executive Cabinet and the University’s senior administrative team.
Reporting directly to the President & CEO, Dr. Bouie maintains primary responsibility for aiding the President in ensuring maximization of the financial and attendant business and auxiliary operations and performance of the university. He will deliver focused leadership on behalf of the President by providing strategic planning, support, and direction for the heightened effectiveness of a varied portfolio of the university’s fiscal and business operational areas including but not limited to the university’s finance, purchasing and payroll, information technology, student accounts, facilities management, dining services, budget compliance, campus bookstore, accounts payable, and print shop. In addition, Dr. Bouie will also lead in bringing greater administrative coordination and refinement to the optimization of the institutions financial and business organizational processes that are responsive to the needs of the university’s individual internal and external stakeholders as well as its collective units and departments.

As an accomplished senior administrator with an impressive educational career spanning nearly 20 years, Dr. Bouie has served in leadership capacities at a multiplicity of colleges and universities from throughout the country including institutions in Florida, Mississippi, and Georgia. As an accomplished financial executive in higher education, K-12, and corporate finance settings, Dr. Bouie comes to EWU having most recently served as Chief Operating and Financial Officer of the KIPP Jacksonville schools. Prior to his tenure at KIPP Jacksonville Dr. Bouie served as Vice President for Fiscal Affairs & Chief Financial Officer at fellow UNCF member Tougaloo College. In addition, Dr. Bouie priorly served as Associate Vice President for Finance and Administration at Florida A&M University; Associate Vice President for Auxiliary & Student Services at Florida Memorial University; and Chief Operations Officer at Miami Dade College after having had a notable career as an executive in corporate and commercial finance and banking with SunTrust and Hancock Bank(s).

Dr. Bouie is a graduate of the University of Phoenix (B.S. in Finance and Management), American Intercontinental University (M.Ed. in Educational Leadership), and Grand Canyon University (Ed.D. in Organizational Leadership & Development). He holds a graduate certification in executive banking from the Graduate School of Banking at Louisiana State University (LSU) and is a graduate of the Higher Education Executive Leadership Program at Hampton University. Dr. Bouie is married to his high school sweetheart Mrs. Nicole Bouie, who is currently a 1st Grade Lead Teacher with KIPP Jacksonville Public Schools. He is also the proud father of four children (Brandon, Camryn, Daniel, and Hannah).
