High School Transcript
- Admission consideration is given to applicants with standard high school diplomas from an accredited high school.
- Submit an official copy of your high school transcript showing work through the completion of your junior year.
- Transcripts are considered official when received directly from the issuing institution electronically or in a sealed envelope with the school’s seal and/or official signature. Your enrollment for the application term and year is based upon review of your final high school transcript with graduation date listed.
Minimum Requirements
- GPA: High school applicants who have earned at least a 2.5 cumulative grade point average and have taken the ACT or SAT with a composite score of at least 14 (ACT) or 800 (SAT) are considered for regular admissions to the college.
- High school applicants who have earned at least a 2.0 – 2.49 cumulative grade point average and have under 14 (ACT) or 800 (SAT) are considered for Provisional admissions for the Charles H. Pearce Institute (Summer term). Scores reported on high school transcript can be used to evaluate applicant admissibility.
High School Curriculum
Admission consideration is given to applicants who have earned a standard high school diploma and completed a minimum of the following:
English – 4 years or units
Mathematics – 3 years or units, including Algebra and higher.
Social Science – 3 years or units
Natural Science – 3 years or units
Foreign Language – 2 years or units Optional (If a student has not taken two years of a sequential language, they are still admissible to the college, but they will be required to take 6 credit hours of a foreign language.)
Advance Standing Credit
You can earn a maximum of 30 combined credit hours in advanced standing credits.
- Advanced Placement (AP): Course credit for applicable courses is awarded for earning a score of “3” or better on the Advanced Placement examination. It is possible to receive advanced course placement without earning course credit.
- International Baccalaureate (IB): Course credit for applicable courses is awarded for earning a score of “5” or above on the International Baccalaureate examination. It is possible to receive advanced course placement without earning course credit.
Who is Eligible to Transfer?
- Transfer admission is granted to applicants at all class levels
- No minimum credit hours or units are required
- Transfer consideration is given for all academic term.

Official Transcripts
- Send official transcript(s) directly to the Office of Admissions at Edward Waters University. Scanned or fax copies are not considered official.
- Transfer applicants must submit official transcript(s) from each college or university attended
Foreign Credential Evaluation Fees
Students are accountable for all evaluation fees if transcripts need to be translated.
High School and/or Secondary School
- Applicants must be graduates of a secondary school and submit a first or second division General Certification of Education (or its equivalent for those applying from the British Commonwealth).
- Basic courses in Algebra, English, Geometry, History, Natural Sciences, and other academic subjects should have been taken in secondary school. The applicant should have achieved a thorough knowledge of the English language.
- All school records must be certified by school officials and sent with your application.

- Academic Standing: Good academic standing and/or eligibility to return to previous institution for full-time study is required for admission consideration.
- SAT I or ACT: Test scores required if you have less than 24 college credit
TOEFL scores will be waived for applicants who are:
- Graduates of high schools within the United States
- Students whose native language or language of instruction is English
- Students transferring to EWU after at least one year at another English language college or university

Financial Statement
- Applicants must provide a notarized financial statement from their bank showing that the applicant has enough support for at least one year in the United States.
- This statement must be submitted with the application for admission. This amount should be at least $22,888.00 (This price is subject to change) Please consult with the Admissions Department for current cost per year.
Issuing the I-20
- I-20 forms are issued once all required documents are received
- I-20’s are not released to a third party. It is issued only to the applicant or mailed directly to the permanent home address listed on the application for admission
- The student must present an original copy of the I-20 and the letter of acceptance to the Embassy to authorize travel to the U.S.
SEVIS I-901 Fee
- Once the I-20 has been issued, the student is responsible for paying the $350 fee (U.S. currency) directly to the Department of Homeland Security.
- The I-901 fee must be paid prior to the student’s scheduled embassy appointment Failure to pay this fee may result in denial of F-1 status.
Who is a Transient Student?
- You are enrolled at a college or university other than Edward Waters University.
- You are in good standing with your current institution.
Requirements for Consideration
- Student only needs to submit transient form from home institution providing approval to take courses at EWU
- You must be in “good academic standing” and eligible to re-enroll with your home institution
- Your home institution must be regionally accredited
- College GPA: Applicants earning at least a 2.00 cumulative GPA in all college coursework are considered for regular admission.
Who is a re-admit student?
- A re-admit student is a student that has attended Edward Waters University before for any amount of time.

- Readmission applications are reviewed and evaluated by several College units before decisions are rendered
- Official transcripts are required from any colleges or universities attended since last enrolled at Edward Waters
- Applicant files are reviewed for issues related to, but not limited to satisfactory academic progress
Academic standing
Long-Term Absence from EWU
If your study at EWU is interrupted for two semesters or more, you are required to fulfill the terms of the current catalog at the time of readmission. If your studies at EWU is interrupted for five years or longer, all earned credits are subject to review by the Office of Academic Affairs.

Minimum Requirements
Who is a Non-Degree Seeking Student?
- Students wishing to take courses for personal growth and development and/or individual learning goals, but do not wish to enroll in a degree program.
- Non-degree students may enroll in a maximum of 12 credit hours.
- Non-degree students may enroll in courses in any academic division.
- Credits earned may be counted toward degree requirements should you later decide to pursue a degree.
- Financial aid is available on a limited basis.
High School Transcript
- Admission consideration is given to applicants with standard high school diplomas.
- Request an official copy of your final high school transcript. It must include your graduation date and diploma type.
- Transcripts are considered official when received directly from the issuing institution in a sealed envelope with the school’s seal and/or official signature.
Who Is a Post-Baccalaureate Student?
- You have an earned bachelor’s degree and/or advanced degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
Application Fee
- A non-refundable $25.00 fee is required to process your application.

- An official copy of your undergraduate transcript from the degree conferring institution.
Admissions Requirements
• A bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education or an equivalent degree from a recognized international institution of higher education
• A cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.75, in the bachelor’s degree program, or comparable GPA for an international applicant

• A personal statement about their goals and career aspirations
• A copy of two legal documents verifying identity, one with a picture of the student and their signature affixed (i.e. state issued driver license, other state or government issued identification). For international students, a passport will suffice.
Provisional Admission – First Time Applicants, New Students Only
The institution reserves the right to grant admission to post-baccalaureate applicants who have earned at least a 2.0 – 2.749 cumulative grade point average and/or do not hold a degree in Business from a regionally/nationally accredited institution, or do not meet GMAT/GRE requirements on a provisional basis. Students are considered probationary, and thus, must meet minimum GPA requirements of 3.0 the first semester to remain in the program and subsequently be removed from provisional/probationary status. Provisional students who do not meet the minimum will be dismissed from the program.

For students without an undergraduate degree in Business, a GMAT/GRE score must be submitted – scores cannot be more than five years old. The exception for such students is the completion of 9 credit hours of undergraduate study in Introduction to Business, Financial Accounting, and Principles of Macroeconomics or a course of study as prescribed by the Dean. Students in this category are provisionally admitted.
Transfer Student Admission
Transfer students must meet the aforementioned criteria for admission, include official transcripts from any undergraduate and graduate institutions. Transfer credits may be accepted upon review and approval by the Dean of Graduate Studies and/or Chairperson of the Department of Business Administration.
Therefore, similar to the current transfer student admission policies for undergraduate studies, graduate transfer students are considered for regular admission differentiated that they have a minimum 2.75 cumulative GPA on all course work attempted. No minimum credit hours or units are required, and transfer consideration is given for all academic terms. In addition, the transfer student must meet the following criteria:
- Must have good academic standing and/or eligibility to return to previous institution for full-time study
- Submit official college/university transcripts of all previous collegiate institutions attended (undergraduate and graduate coursework).
- Submit GMAT/GRE score report and all other required aforementioned admissions standards for first-time graduate student applicants.
Transfer Credits
Students are able to transfer a maximum of 12 credit hours of related graduate business coursework. Courses submitted for transfer consideration must have earned at least a B or higher and have a related course description for consideration and evaluation by the Chairperson of Business Administration in collaboration with the Office of the Registrar for potential transfer.
Re-Admit Applicants
Current language regarding undergraduate students recognizes a Readmit Student as an applicant who has previously attended Edward Waters University but withdrew or transferred to another institution and now desires to re-enroll in classes at EWU. The same applies for graduate students in that a readmit student is an applicant who has previously attended Edward Waters University Application Requirements include:
- Completed admissions application
- $25 application fee
- Official College transcripts (if the student has attended another institution since leaving EWU)
International Student Admissions Policies
To be considered for regular admission to EWU international students who apply to graduate studies must be graduates of a post-secondary school and submit a General Certification of Education, Completion, or its equivalent for those applying from the British Commonwealth.
All international applicants whose native language is not English are required to submit a Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) with a score of 153 or above (53 or above for the Internet-based score). TOEFL scores will be waived for applicants who graduate from high schools within the United States, whose native language or language of instruction is English, or students transferring to EWU after at least one year at another English language college or university.
