The Division of Academic Affairs at Edward Waters University is devoted to serving as an exemplary academic division committed to fostering quality education, scholarship, research and service through involved, innovative, and informed faculty and staff. Our faculty is committed to providing students an educational experience conducive to scholarly pursuits, preparation for leadership roles in the workplace, society and the world, and lifelong learning in a technologically advanced, complex global society. Our students will become intentional learners with the ability to integrate knowledge across fields, experiences, and levels of learning; formulate and ask complex questions; understand and interrelate among global communities; and engage with a diverse civic society.
Our mission is to create and provide a stimulating and supportive learning environment for our students that is enriched with expansive opportunities to engage them in intentional learning for academic and lifelong success as leaders who can and will make a difference globally. Our ongoing goal is to be in a continual state of improving the academic standards and competitiveness of the University. The Academic Affairs area is responsible for the administration of the academic programs. Academic administrators, faculty and staff work collectively and collaboratively to facilitate the mission of the University through its delivery of effective twenty-first century instruction and quality academic support services. Alpha Lamba Delta
ALPHA LAMBDA DELTA HONOR SOCIETY National Honor Society for First-Year Students
Edward Waters University is proud to announce the approval to charter a chapter of this prestigious honor society on our campus. This organization was founded in 1924 by Maria Leonard, the Dean of Women at the University of Illinois. Alpha Lambda Delta (ALD) recognizes first-year students with a minimum 3.5 GPA their first semester who are also ranked in the top twenty percent of their class. This organization has continued to be innovative and responsive in recognizing the academic excellence of freshmen students by providing Senior Certificates and the Maria Leonard Senior Book Award since 1939, offering leadership conferences since 1978, recognizing outstanding chapters with the Order of the Torch Award since 1989, and recognizing the Outstanding Advisor of the Year since 1990. Currently, this organization has chapters at 280 campuses in the United States. The National organization is governed by a National Council which is located in Fairport, New York. There are over 1 million lifetime members with over 25,000 to 30,000 being inducted annually.
MEMBERSHIP ELIGIBILITY
- Be enrolled full-time at an institution that has an active chapter of Alpha Lambda Delta
- Earned a 3.5 grade point average or higher your first semester or first year
- Potential candidates receive an invitation for membership from the Chapter Advisor

MEMBERSHIP IN ALPHA KAPPA MU
- Membership categories consist of collegiate, alumni, local honorary, and life members.
- Members are elected from a list of those scholastically eligible and approved by the chapter advisor and an affirmative vote by the majority of chapter members present at a regular meeting.
- Students eligible to be elected as undergraduate members must be:
- registered as full-time, and in good standing with the institution at which the chapter is located
- at least a junior in a degree-program, and has completed 50 percent of the requirements for graduation
- has a minimum grade-point average of 3.3, when A=4
- is ranked in the upper 10 percent of the class
- exemplifies good character
- exhibits the potential for leadership and service

ALPHA CHI HONOR SOCIETY NATIONAL COLLEGE HONOR SOCIETY Florida Kappa, Region III
Alpha Chi National College Honor Society was founded to promote and recognize academic excellence among college and university students across the disciplines on February 22, 1922. Its purpose was to encourage a spirit of service and leadership, and to nurture the foundation of character that strengthens effective scholarship. Alpha Chi is a member of the Association of College Honor Societies and is a coeducational honor society. Students accepted as members represent the top ten percent of their class form across the disciplines. There are over 300 chapters, located across the United States with approximately 10,000 members being inducted annually. Students accepted for membership into this prestigious honor society benefit from the opportunities to attend lectures, forums, debates, and events that cultivate the scholarly community; leadership and service opportunities, interactions and networking with other high achieving students; and a rich source of scholarship and financial rewards. To be eligible for membership you must be in the top 10 percent of juniors or seniors for consideration.
HOW TO APPLY
Students can not apply, they must be invited for membership by the faculty advisor for the chapter.
